I’ve never understood why Datsun is used as a “derogatory” term anyway, considering one of their cars is on many petrolheads wish list (Fairlady Z/240Z).
I like Nissan, gave the world some of the greatest cars ever made. Be it the aforementioned 240Z, the Hakosuka or GTRs (well, from R32 to R34 anyway).
Having had the e2008 as a courtesy car when the MG has been in for a service, it feels cheap.
In fairness, the new 308 is built much better. It’s the first model after their “rebrand”, or rather “repositioning” as a more premium manufacturer, and it shows. As much as i dislike some really stupid decisions in the 308 (steering wheel), the interior quality beats most other stuff in the class, including the Golf 8. Not quite A3/1series maybe, but close enough for a first try by Peugeot.
