Hi Elliot, I’ve got a BMW I3s it’s quite old tech but will charge at 50kwh an hour on the rapid charger I used today, full battery is only 42kw so can charge from empty to full in about 50mins on today’s charger. Both chargers were empty when I arrived but cost 75p per Kw which is 10 times my cheap overnight tariff…… I think chargers have moved on massively since I started my Ev experience 3yrs ago. In addition the cars have improved and can take the big charge to which helps reduce the wait. Elliot I think your experience was typical for a lot of people because of your earlier uptake of an Ev, poor charging network with a slow charging car. I honestly think its much better now, but I do understand your frustration. I’ve got a Kona ordered through Motability which should give me close to 300 miles on a full charge and Genesis Gv60 company car arriving in Jan which can charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes on a 350Kw charger (that should be about 280miles). Full range is 320 miles for the Genesis. For me that range is enough, I understand it will not be for everyone.

Just to let you know my MG5 was less than a year old when I got rid of it as my company car. I travel all over the UK with my work and there was no way I could keep living with having an extra 3 hours added to my working day charging it up. It was my boss who suggested we got rid of it and I certainly didn’t argue.
