just imagine never having to touch a stinking petrol pump again and misfuelling! ?

I have probably driven the best part of 1 Million miles in my 40 year driving history and never misfuelled once. Most modern cars won’t let you do it anyway. Can’t say I’ve ever had a major issue with ‘stinking’ pumps either. What I do know is that, for me anyway, a 5 minute visit to a petrol station around once every 3 weeks, with absolutely zero hassle in between, is highly preferable (by a factor of several times) to enduring all the issues that Elliot encountered when he had his EV.

As of the present day, if running costs are the sole priority then an EV is certainly the way to go, but not if your objectives are convenient and hassle free motoring. The exception, of course, will be those who can charge on a private driveway or, even better, inside a garage, and never do any journeys that are beyond the range of the car. When the convenience tipping point swings in favour of EV’s for those of us who regularly do longer journeys, which it probably will in 10+ years time when both charging infrastructure and battery technology (range and charging time) have improved drastically from where they are today, then that’s a game changer.

Until then, not wanting to adopt an EV is not about being a dinosaur and resisting change. It’s just about being practical and understanding that whilst EV’s have one major advantage (running costs), you ignore the current downsides at your peril.
