My DD is £140. I contact them everytime they increase it automatically and we then come to an agreement on a lower payment, as I get my main benefit every 2 weeks and cannot pay such a large amount in one go, as they wanted almost £200 a month this time.

Guess maybe the same will happen in jan as they setting the cap every 3 months now. If not probably april. We used to able to lower or raise the payment online but for last 6 months at least, it just says to contact them when you try to reduce the payment amount.

The govts £67 get taken from my DD so I only pay £73 a month by DD right now. I then make a payment later in the month to clear any excess.  I could go into some arrear’s if I wanted during the winter month’s and offset it during the summer, but I choose not to as it gives me more cash for in the summer hols and the kids being off school for 6 weeks, they need entertaining and enriching.

We do have a smart meters, but they have never worked as they both won’t connect and I ain’t too fussed about that. The only reason we had them changed, was because when we got the house it had an electric payment key meter fitted, but not gas and it meant you couldn’t get cheaper fixed deals and had to go out to charge the key. They also charged for a normal meter and not for a smart one.

Our fixed deals ended and like many, no deals better than the flexible tariff that’s capped and you cannot even switch right now.

    Last months bill was just over £265 Gas 31st Oct. 2022 – 29th Nov. 2022 £165.47 DR
    Electricity 31st Oct. 2022 – 29th Nov. 2022 £99.58 DR

I guess this month it will be higher but till I give them the readings on the 31st and they generate the monthy bill I won’t know. Guess i could look at the meter reading but, naw I ain’t doing that.

Lucky for us the mrs started working recently again and 100% from home, so she’s here if i need her. If she hadn’t it would be a huge problem on the income we did have coming in. Without the goverment help last month is was almost £200 in energy and we ain’t got it on 24/7 far from it, but we do live in an older 4 bedroom semi.
