Sorry to hear of the passing of your grandma.

You don’t have to order right now although, Prices could rise in jan on any options you decide on ordring.

Sometimes cars even leave the scheme.

I have had my own losses in the last few years and yep they do take time to get over , but I think what would they say to do and as we have kids, life sort of has to go on for them, but it’s not easy.

So I totally understand your situation and I do feel it helps to play on the positives of the situation. They all good now and it’s us left behind that are suffering from the loss, not them suffering.

Currently my wife’s mums in hospital and It don’t look good for her either and we just dread it happening on xmas day, but there is nothing anyone can do if it does, it is what it is I guess, it will happen when it happens.

It was different though when I lost my 16 year old son in 2017, that was very traumatic and the truth is i will never get over that.

I have come to accept it, but everyday and every moment, he’s on my mind and looking for the last car on the scheme was the 1st one without him helping me narrow down the selections, looking at spec’s etc it all can take time, especially if you got other things on your mind.

Everytime I went to look at a car it brought me to tears, he was my car buddy and he loved cars. On the day he died he went to enrol at college for the vehicle technician course he’d been accepted on. Cars was definitely our #1 bond, so I guess that’s why it was so painful, but it is those memories’ that are so important and it hurts because we care about them so so much, like you obviously do your grandma.

Back to the issue at hand.

Other thing also is, maybe no one else might be looking at cars right now.

What are you main requirements, like needing an automatic, the major things you cannot do without and   budget. If you’ve had the car under 3 years you will get some of the ap you paid back on the xc40 pro-rata.

How quickly can the car arrive, Would be a questions to ask the dealers. If you narow it down  it maybe worth calling other dealerships you could also visit and seeing if they can get one quicker.

I got my last car(off the scheme) from a dealer not local they was 75 miles away, because they could deliver it in 4 weeks. So always worth a try and a few phone calls. Also maybe if you flexable on colour it can also help.

Have Mb said anything about what’s going to happen between when you order and the new car arriving or what if you don’t order in 4 weeks, but it does give you almost to the end of jan, if you not up to it before this quarter ends.

Maybe you can narrow down the search without going and looking at them and as always members of the forum are always happy to look at specs and suggest options that could be suitable for you.

Considering you had a xc40 do you need someing higher than lower, So would an estate be out of the question for the added boot space(if needed) for example.
