We should scrap Vehicle Excise Duty/Car tax completely as sufficient funds are being collected from all forms of fuel.
Instead move to MOT’s for all vehicles at the point of sale and annual. We need to remove the notion that getting a new car from the dealership will be ok for three years and mandating that all used cars have a new MOT will force a percentage of stolen and dodgy vehicles out of the market place. Then change the ownership process that to take over the MOT you must have an active insurance document and address.
