    The HEV was available when I booked a test drive which was a week later. In the interim the HEV was removed.

    Customers could only choose ICE if they wanted a manual, or one of the top two trims.

    My Golf’s stop-start system would only become unavailable n extreme conditions that caused battery charge state to be too low (Heating, aircon, cold, etc). This MHEV with it’s 48V battery and ISG (intelligent stop-go), has already started preventing the stop-start/go system working.

    The software update takes “up to 1 1/2 hours” and must be done with engine running. Luckily I have a 3hr+ trip to hospital next week, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to access the SatNav, radio, media player etc.
