@Glos Guy – If BMW were still on the scheme we would more than likely get the 2.0L petrol X1. It’s a brilliant car and I love the iDrive system. I’ll be gutted when it goes. We mainly fuel the car at Costco and diesel is 23p a litre more than petrol, which is 149.9p. With them trying to get diesels off the road I really can’t see the gap between the fuels decreasing.

Whilst I can’t see cars like the new generation BMW X1 making it onto Motability any time soon (if ever, given the way that the scheme has declined), I’ve read a few reviews of it and can’t say that it looks like a leap forward. Whilst the technology is more up to date, they have dropped the iDrive controller which, along with the motoring press, I consider to be a major retrograde step. Interior space is a tiny bit bigger and they have addressed the sole niggle that after 15 months still bugs me – the new X1 now has AutoHold at last. Given that we are most likely to be leaving the scheme, I’ll be interested to see what the next generation X3 is like. It’s due to launch around the time our 3 year lease ends.
