Did anyone see this weeks Question Time from Grimsby,there was a fella on there who said he will be getting two £150 disability payments,he was praising the Govt for the help they are giving. I thought ….you getting two….hows that then ? Is he including the already paid “council tax” payment.
Umm, I wonder ! ?
Was looking through my bank account statements online the weekend and noticed a deposit of £135 had been made by my local council. I’ve racked my brains all day trying to figure out what the payment was for as I had the £150 one months ago.
Well today a letter dropped on the mat from the council telling me what the money is and apparently it says “This grant of £135 is payable as you are of pension age and were in receipt of council tax reduction on the 1stof April.”
I’m not sure how these things work but when I came off pension credit earlier this year it meant I had to pay council tax again after not paying any since becoming disabled and claiming DVL/PIP but a lady from the council said I still get a % reduction because I only have the state pension and think I pay council tax of 80% with a 20% reduction or there’s about.
So as I was on pension credit on the qualifying date I’m not sure if the grant is because of PC or because I’m a pensioner with a council tax discount but I’m not complaining.

The description of the payment was “Household Support Fund” for anyone who thinks they might qualify.
