Hi steve, yes it’s accepted the camera on the Tiguan was of good quality and hopefully the person reporting the naff camera just happened to get one that has a problem that the dealer should fix.
It’s the only one reported but if other reports start popping up over the next few months we will know for sure.
Hi Sam, I can’t imagine that VW would be stupid enough to use sub-standard equipment in safety features but I recall one manufacture, Honda or Toyota I think, that had knock off air bags fitted and had to recall all their cars but I think the bigger problem for all manufactures at the moment is the stop, start, stop, start production going on because of lack of parts.
I would assume they don’t make a car until they have all the parts to finish it but we hear stories of cars being parked up in a field waiting for a chip to finish it off and I can’t help feeling that some of those cars will have problems in future in what we used to call “a Friday car”.
I still wished I had ordered the camera but the R-Line does have the sonic radar stuff that I loved in my VW Golf and it also has “cross traffic” something I’ve not had before but if it works the way I think it does should be something else to help with reversing.
