We have a 24kw central heating boiler. That will cost £3.60 an hour. We will probably keep it switched off unless its really cold, save 20 minutes daily for the hot water tank. We have a well insulated house and the ability to heat for 4 hours at low rates using electricity.
Our old property was not well insulated and the heating was on, typically, for 12 hours daily. Do the math’s and deduct a bit where it switches on and off and its around £27 a day, £810 a month!
And we have another 60% increase in the pipeline in January.
A Sunday roast, cooking for 4 hours in an electric oven , typically £3.
Even saw some people in the forest today collecting wood. Illegal, but possibly going to become more common.
