Conclusions I have come to.
The car I would like on the scheme is the Hyundai Kona Ultimate EV. I’ve done some cost estimates based upon 9p/kw (currently I pay 7.5p until 24th June next year). I’ve compared this to buying one of the cheapest new cars I can find, a Kia Picanto 1 at £12,250 and petrol at £1.80 a litre. Both figures based upon 8,000 miles a year.
Below is a screen capture of a spreadsheet I did doing some calculations, An error I’ve spotted in it is that I haven’t deducted the £600 GCB I would have received with a new lease after year 3 so after 6 years, the bought car would have cost me £2,940 more.
I’m happy for anybody to pick holes in my figures. As it stands, it would seem silly to leave the scheme whilst I’m doing around 8,000 miles a year.
I’ve looked at buying a second hand electric car too but I can’t make those figures stack up either.
Happy to have any input. I’m as capable as anybody of making a mistake. Have I missed something??
