Indeed phil Over 5 years you’d pay no less than £16,770 at the current allowance rate (which rises every year) plus any ap you payed. I am paying more than I was on the scheme but not by much when you consider current ap’s.

I am buying all of the car on hp over 5 years not on pcp contract, where you still have to pay X amount to own it at the end or hand it back. That would be cheaper but then you have to find the lump sum.

Another of my reason for leaving the scheme is, I think replacing a car every 3 years ain’t so good for the enviroment. Neither is scrapping cars to replace them with newer ones, before the lifetime of them has run it’s course, as the footprint of a new car is very high.

We should all be keeping cars for as long as possible, but the goverments, car makers and Mb etc wouldn’t make huge profits then would they.

I did buy a new car a mild hybrid, but I do intend to keep it for quite some time as an ev won’t work for us not having off street parking. Especially with 2030/2035 coming and other policies I am sure new cars will be forced to comply to more green policies and will become more expensive and they will sell less but make more profits than ever.

The scheme will be forced to adopt that also and many will not be able to afford the ap’s or get anything suitable for there needs. Just like many people won’t be able to afford cars at all. Just like how many cannot afford to buy a house. You will own nothing and be happy.
