I’m the English born son of a Glaswegian, my grandad was a shipbuilder on the Clyde, my nana was from a small village in the highlands. I’m very wary about independence. As a remainer I would be happy to see Scotland independent and back in the EU. However, I have a lot of misgivings. Look at the lies of the EU referendum, look at the public discourse and divide, look at Dover, look at (some) of the shortages, look at the struggling businesses.

If Scotland were to become independent, it won’t be plain sailing, the Nationalists are just as likely to sugarcoat the sunny uplands as the Brexiters were. Also, taking British identity from certain Scottish people is nothing like taking EU membership from a remainer. Do people really think certain groups of proud Scottish Brits will be happy with this and just say ‘okay Nicola you won, how do we move forward’, I see lots of problems bringing the country together after Independence. As I said, I’d love to see an independent Scotland back in the EU, I’d move there myself, but I’m very wary. Anyway, I don’t get a vote so my thoughts are irrelevant.
