I certainly don’t want to be having a black box fitted to any of my cars @steve, even if it does cause excessive speed and agressive driving ??
It will end up based on a pay per mile system which has been in the pipeline for a while now. How it is implemented fairly is another matter. One Idea I saw in a Auto magazine a year or so ago was a ticketed system- you buy a ticket with up to 5k, 10k 15k miles etc based on the grroup/weight of your car. It also included a grace mileage should you go over. It was based around a ticketless system and paid for similar to how the RFL is paid if I remember correctly. I guess it would be checked at MOT times.
What ever happens there will be only one winner and that would be the Government. Whether or not Motability customers or disabled drivers get a grace mileage similar to how they get free RFL is yet to be seen.
