Can be as simple as bad code and when the perimeters are met and no what if is defined then you’ll get issues bugs and crashes. like on the c4 i had the infotainment system would crash and was no way to reboot it only turning off the car and restarting, which cannot be done on a motorway say and it controlled alot of the cars functions. On the golf you could hold the power button for 10 secs then it would reboot.
That will be the big problem with having no wing mirrors and camera’s if they glitch what then?
I did have a problem with my golf, when i stopped at lights (with no car in front) and had been using adaptive cruise. When lights went green and you put your foot on the gas or press resume the engine would roar and the car would go nowhere and you’d smell burning clutch and get beeped from cars behind.
You had to turn off ignition then then restart the car. Didn’t happen all the time either, dealer could not find a fault or replicate it. Anyhow there was a software/firmware update due, they did it and it never happened again. Peresonally i think it was an issue with auto hold and acc being on and it not being deactivated when pressing the peddle or the button.
Many cars seem to have software issues, few seem to have mechanical issues thesedays and some electrical like the stop/start frying the battery ? also happened on the golf, rac came put a more powerful newer one on it and it did not have an issue at all after that. That’s the only breakdown I’ve had on 4 scheme cars and any other new cars I have bought. You can get the occasional lemon off the production line and i do agree right now seems there could be more than usual.
