    Question about windscreen excess Are we always liable to pay the excess on a screen replacement . Mine cracked from the bottom edge up cannot see any stone chip just looks like glass failure

    It maybe helpful to state the make/model in case members here have suffered similar.

    However, I think the problem you may have is proving the crack wasn’t caused by debris damage (stone etc).

    Have you looked on online owner’s groups etc for your vehicle to see if cracking of windscreen is a prevalent manufacturing fault on your particular vehicle?

    You could chance speaking with your dealership or manufacturer and asking them if it is a prevalent fault, however I doubt they would say it is (even if it actually is)!

    If not, other than having your windscreen scientifically/forensically examined (which may cost a fortune), I think you maybe stuck with the £50 excress for replacement.
