There was a discussion at the Skoda annual report about PHEV’s, and the director stated that they would not be increasing the amount of PHEV cars as they are expensive compared to both ICE and battery cars, having two power plants per car.
I woukd imagine, due to the was VAG build axes, this is the whole groups attitude
they were only supposed to be a stop gap anyway
