The fact people are satisfied with a car does not make it a great car. I could be satisfied with a Honda Jazz but it does not make it comparable to a 5 series BMW.
Its not really a like 4 like comparison. I think the days of BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Jaguar being street’s ahead of the competition have gone. Cutting edge technology has allowed all manufactures to compete and the differences now are smaller, with electrification allowing a new order to rise.
