I think your getting mixed up between plug in hybrids being “worse than petrol” and PHEV drivers not using them properly. I drive almost totally in pure electric so technically it’s not an EV but I drive it like an EV. Before it stopped working I was getting 148 mpg, better than a petrol 100% I think so. Reading online magazines are a very good way to gather info, I do it myself every day, but you must think about how you use the info.
Sorry to hear about your car problems, unfortunately it does happen, however on the plus side get 45mpg + plus, just goes to show the vehicle has a very efficient energy recover system.
