Find it difficult to fathom VW’s model plans with the Taigo. It is virtually the same size as the T-Roc and almost exactly the same weight. It does very much the same job too – being a bit taller than a Golf but much the same otherwise. Only difference of note is lack of more powerful engines/4×4 on the Taigo. I test drove a 1.5L T-Roc and found it disappointingly underpowered. (Chose the 2.0L and am well happy thank you.) Imagine that the 1.5L Taigo will be similarly flat.
The whole sales approach seems to be to sell to Yoof – the slopey back is thought to appeal to youngsters and the TV ads feature a person by the name of Yugen Blakrok. This is a Yoof who makes rap sounds for a living, Presume VW believes that Yoof Taigo drivers will be so intent on listening to the rap-stuff that they won’t notice the lack of power.
