Can’t wait for this (and more chargers), because the one thing that can really take the shine off the EV experience is selfish drivers ignoring the unwritten etiquette and insisting on charging to 100% at MSA

For those unaware, in general, charging from 80%-90% is extremely slow and from 90%-100% is basically a trickle charge unless you have a top of the range superduper luxury EV, and even then that last 20% is still substantially slower than the first 80%. If going on a journey that you could theoretically achieve with a single charge at a MSA to 100%, you could probably save yourself a good hour, maybe two, and only charge to 70%, but twice, and earn a LOT of brownie points from other EV drivers in the process (only 50% needed in this scenario, but a margin of safety)

The last time I charged up at  Toddington northbound there were two chargers and a queue – at one of the chargers there was a new Skoda Enyaq whose driver was insisting they needed 100% and was overtly hostile and abusive (DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I’VE GOT THE RIGHT TO BE HERE, only with a handful of swear words) towards anyone who suggested he free up the charger, even after pointing out to him how slowly he’d been charging and how many people were waiting. He’d been there well over 2 hours by the time he got to 100% (I charged at the other, I was second in line).

I practice what I preach, so I never go beyond 80% at a public charger and often, if I think I’ll need just an extra 10% to make it home then I’ll stick just 15% in, for a safety margin
