I have a Ford S-Max in April 2017, around the time I was due to renew Covid happened and found myself working from home a lot, the car suits my needs so I rang Motability to talk about extending for one year, they asked me the mileage and reason for extending and they were really good about it and totally understood, fast forward one year… I again rang Motability to ask what the possibility of extending for another year but totally prepared if they said no. I explained I was still WFH and not done a huge amount of mileage and the car still suited my needs and if I was going to get another car it would probably be another S-Max, which at the time was £3,500 approx.
Motability were again really good, the lady on the call put me on hold for a few minutes to come back and say yes I could extend for another year but I couldn’t extend beyond five years. I happy!
About 3 weeks ago I placed an order for another S-Max (didn’t want a Galaxy, didn’t want to look like a taxi!) but due to delays, which everyone knows about, the car should be available to me in about October ’22. My current car has been extended until I get my new car.
All said and done, I’m happy the way I have been treated over the 25 years with Motability. The number of cars and type of cars is concerning and not sure what I’d have done if the S-Max was no longer available…
