No true dogs, even liked the MG Maestro I had for a couple of years…Had a 3.0 Carlton for a good few years (was looking for a Senator, lucky me – seller had a wife who kept reversing it into things as it was too big, so he let it go cheap) A cracking car- comfort and speed.

Worst for breakdowns/costs was a 2004 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9CDTi, bought as ex Vauxhall management car (probably a hire car) with 10k on the clock, ran it up to 128,000 over 4 years by which point it had had so much work it was like triggers broom. Kept breaking coil springs every few months till I replaced them with aftermarket Bilsteins – never did it again. Put me off Vauxhalls  – not had one since.

Work had Mokkas as pool cars for a while (now its BMW i3’s and 3 Toyota Mirai’s) Awful things, plasticky, gutless, woeful and shoddy.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
