My annual usage for Gas/Electric for my property is 21131 kWhr Gas and 4424kWhr for electricity, my current rate for Gas is 3.82p for gas and 20.02p per kwhr supplied under the current price cap with Octopus. My fixed price deal ended last August and there are no fixed deals anywhere to be had for less than £300 per month.
Looking at the new rates for the price cap, all in allowing for the daily standing charge and VAT the new rates starting in April will be 28p per kWhr Electric and 7p per kWhr gas this will cost me £1238 elec and £1479 gas so £2717 total and it could go up again in October.
As a pensioner I get the £200 annual energy subsidy but nowt else, we are getting a 3% increase in state pension in April but those are not going to help much with inflation expected to be 7% by next month.
Fortunately we can afford it but what hurts most is that these increases are creating huge profits for certain companies and individuals at the one end and mass misery and penury for vast numbers of people wondering do I eat or freeze.
