There are four independent old fashioned hardware stores in my area in either Malvern or Ledbury, all within a ten minute drive. It takes me back to decades ago when I’m walking along aisles that are barely shoulder width and shelves stuffed with everything that you could possibly want, and lots of obscure things that you will never need.
B&Q, Homebase, Screwfix and Tool Station are there as modern back ups, and this is in a very quiet pastoral area.
