I changed sit ti chances in health and worsening disability had to move from  manual to auto & this was sorted by MO and I can’t recall if they charged me £50 or not & no GCB element back.

i almost changed my latest car due to a number of issues with the engine management / dealer and concerns on safety but it was so convoluted and there was the vivid impact (lockdowns etc) I had also applied to the motability charity for help towards my AP, due to my financial situation  on benefits and no income nor savings etc…. I had down my homework and shortlisted three  cars whuch met my access, physical, practical needs.
i put forward the three as an expert in my one health / disability & the notability charity came back with 3 different cars which had been on a long list or not considered by me – so I couldn’t change and was unable to accept the grant (which part paid the AP) and couldn’t order the best new vehicle to suit my access and disability needs. I know that there needs to be proper checks and balances but both motability operations and motability charity need to have a better training and understanding in disability awareness / social model of disability etc…. ( don’t even get me started on dealers and disability awareness).
Without doubt there needs to be policies and procedures to ensure and mitigate against misuse of the scheme but also current policies and procedures need to be fit for purpose too.
