The piece of mind that mb gives me is priceless, you never know when the dwp will pull the rug from under you though, or those doing the assessment trick you with the descriptor wordings. Even worse imo now it’s over the phone.. Which i won’t be doing due to my condition. They can try but then they’ll findout it’s listed as one of my disabilities.
The way things are going, i might have to consider leaving the scheme, but then that opens a whole can of worms of the unknown and unforeseen repair bills, sorting car insurance etc every year and the stress that come’s with it.
Some test drives now you do on your own, so it’s covid secure. so if you can i would deffo suggest you do.
I was never a fan of automatics, but needs must for me now. Some just don’t like the cvt, but after driving the civic for 18 months now.
I’ve had no real issues at all and i find it better then the dsg on the golf, but all autos are not perfect and have limtations. luckily i have the flappy paddles, so if i need power i just kickdown with them rather than pushing my foot down more on the gas. Plus i get the full vtec power then also, wow that still makes me smile..
Rest of the time it’s like the car floats along and don’t change gear at all and is so smooth. Where as my golf and the dsg was always in the highest possible gear with lowest revs it could but held the next gear up ready, so when you needed to accelerate and change down gear, it lagged so bad and didn’t have the paddles.
Any hybid / ev gonna have an auto box now and i did look at the corrolla and was just to small.
Another factor is the ulez zones speading to many cities and it has pushed up the price of used cars and made those that don’t meet the requirements virtually worthless. Plus the chip crisis. So not as many cars being made or options on therm are limited, wait times are crazy. So might be worth getting something to tide you over, till you can get what you want on the scheme.. It’s a very tuff one. Fair to say though something is better than nothing, if it gets you out and about and your freedom back.
