Considering the ‘Christ’mas Tree is thoroughly pagan (dates from the 4th century BC – I all ‘Cultural appropriation’!) I have absolutely no problem with people reclaiming their heritage.
Owls are fine – they were a symbol of the Greek goddess Athena. In fact, why not go the Whole hog and have an Athena-themed tree with snakes (symbolised by tinsel?), olive trees (green and purple baubles?), spears (icicle danglies?), and . . . the image of the Gorgon’s head on a shield (the ‘Gorgoneion’). One of those lent against the bottom of the tree would certainly be a talking point!
