Hi there just a quick question i order my car august and have been given a delivery date end of december. I’m not hopeful as i know there can be set backs or delays. i haven’t been given a order number? but on my paper work i have the delivery date communication is bad never no answer or emails i have to get someone because i’m unwell to keep going up their just to get an update . my question is how long have people waited for the x1 thanks
Hi Aza. My X1 was just under 4 months from order to delivery (ordered 31st March, delivered 23rd July 2021) BUT the dealer managed to secure a cancelled order slot from another dealership. I think it would have been 5-6 months had that not been the case.
The delivery date on your paperwork means nothing. It’s just an estimate and can (and will) change as build dates tend to move a few times. You need to insist that your dealer gives you the order number (the BMW order number, not the Motability order number). If they won’t give it to you, or can’t, then sadly that means one thing. They haven’t yet ordered your car. As it’s now November they may have had some new build allocation slots for X1’s but you don’t know how many nor how many other customers are still ahead of you in the queue, so you need to make a nuisance of yourself until they provide it.
Annoying though it is, two things to keep your spirits up. Firstly, even if you have a long wait it will still come quicker than had you ordered most of its competitors. Secondly, it’s a fantastic car. It’s due to be replaced with an all new model some time next year but, in spite of this, demand from both retail and fleet customers remains very high, which is telling. If we were ordering a new car today from Motability then, of the choice we have available, I would order the exact same car again.
