I assume it’s infotainment or satnav software your talking about and not critical safety software. KIA do the same for their infotainment units and the satnav maps in that they used to charge £25 to update but a few week ago they put it up to £40. I updated my maps for free using a torrent, a bit naughty I know but when the maps are a couple of years old when you collect a new car I’m not paying them to do it. KIA says its up to the dealer if they charge to update during a service but my maps are up to date for free and no way I’d pay. When the car goes back next year I will swap the SD card over and put the original one back in so when they resale the car the maps will be at least 5 years out of date but not my problem.
can you help with torrent?My SD card must have been stolen before delivery and dealer will ot help!!

Link below but I will guess that many of the links to the torrents aren’t there any more but have a read through and see if you can pick any information up.
A word of warning though there are many warning about using torrents to gain the map and firmware file for all the different infotainment units in KIA’s about the possibility of a virus in the files data and is one reason I never did the firmware update for my actual unit and just did the maps. The maps are read directly from the SD card while the firmware is loaded into the unit and if anything goes wrong there you will have to pay a KIA dealer to fix it however the maps are not a problem as you simply remove the SD card and in my case re-insert the original.
Copying the unzipped map data to a SD card is not a problem but finding a safe download is. It’s a shame we don’t have private messaging on this site as I could copy off the file on my card and send it to you, however that said, the map is a couple of years old now but I needed it back in 19 because of a new major link road cutting through my district and nothing new around here since.
