    Rene, regarding tumble drying at night to take advantage of cheaper rates, most kitchen machines have safety interlocks and unless they have built-in delay timers they can’t be used unattended.

    Our washing machine and tumble dryer (both a few years old) use push switches to start them and have no built in delay timers so can’t be set to go at night, but our dishwasher has a built in delay timer so it can. We also run a dehumidifier at night on a plug in-timer.
