The two occasions I have delt with Motability grants, they really didn’t seem to understand my disabilities, and some cars they suggested were almost comical “a mini was one”.
I sent a concerning e-mail to Motability on Friday, not about the cost of cars but how much the hoists have increased in price. Going from £260 to £590.
Well just an hour ago Motability rang me back about my concerns and the subject of grants was mentioned by them and I was told that because my car has a hoist they would not entertain giving me a grant towards a hoist but I never asked what happens if your up to the maximum lease time.
I asked why I couldn’t transfer my current 3 year old hoist and they said that Auto-chair had hiked the prices so high for the adaption transfer plate its just viable any more.
The advisor was very nice and a Motability customer themselves but did not realise that adaption prices are now fixed for 6 months after she suggested waiting until Q1 2022.
Only thing I can do now is pay up and shut up I’m afraid to say.
