I know there are quite a few Tesla fanboys and grls around Motability, but I don’t think even the cheapest Tesla model 2. first of all, the quality is below par, Tesla coming low on surveys, with some people having parts replaced time after time and the same issues re occur (rear door handles not unlocking, trapping passengers in the back, rear boot seals not sealing and filling boots with water etc) but I think the biggest issue for Motability insurance providers is Tesla’s way of selling replacement parts, I.e. not individual parts but modules. there is a case of a motorist in the USA who ran over some debris in the road and it snapped a plastic connector which supplies cooling to the battery packs. tesla does not supply a replacement, rather the whole battery pack has to be changed at a cost of $22,000 plus Labour! can you see our insurance company having many of those types of repirs? in some cases, Tesla cars out of warranty, the cost of battery pack replacement is more than the cost of the car. we know Motability don’t want JLR for their warranty issues, Tesla is even worse.
Agreed. 100%
