considering i was in the army i admit i didnt expect to be exposed to much in the way of aviation or boating for that matter after all if i had wanted to fly i would have joined one of the other two services how little we know when we start out.
i was pay corps so got attached to different units every year/2 years so spent time with allsorts, marines,paras, air corps even raf so got to use landing craft and hovercraft of all things, other tours gazelle,lynx,puma, hercules,sea king and the chinook. during a stint with the army air corps they were just introducing the apache and we had to practice evac drills where basically you tie/hang on to the side of one to get extracted from danger etc. that was scary.
