My first Motability car was a B-Max. When it came to replacing it in 2018 I’d settled on treating myself to a BMW X1. Then, on a whim, I decided to test drive a Volvo XC40 and fell in love.
When it became available on the scheme, I couldn’t resist. A good friend said I was setting myself up for a fall, as it was likely I couldn’t go back to a non “premium” car since I’d likely be disappointed with one after the XC40. He was right.
In the 3 years since, the XC40 AP has fallen only to rise again, and is now pretty much what it was when I got mine in 2018, although you now get the top spec model (Inscription Pro) for what I shelled out for the base spec (Momentum).
Just under 4k is more than I’d like to part with, but having test driven alternatives, I realise I’d probably miss an XC40.
I don’t think I’d go beyond 4k. We’ll see where we are in another 3 years…
