I’ll not bore you with the whole sorry saga of the disabled facilities grant but I was approved, quotes were being collected and agreed, I got excited and then issues were found with the house (and a nosey potential complainer neighbour) and it all got scrapped as it would prove to be expensive and go over their maximum amount.

I’m on the urgent list for a move to a wheelchair accessible bungalow, been on it since 2018 but as the right size and wheelchair accessible bungalows (or even the wrong size and wheelchair accessible) only come up once in a blue moon, it’s not going to happen quickly unless they build one. To add to the sorry story, I haven’t been able to use my bathroom for a shower/bath for 5 years because it is not adapted for a wheelchair (it’s a shower over a bath) and after one too many serious falls from attempting it, I am banned from doing so – I go to my mum’s where they had the shower adapted for my dad.

It didn’t include a driveway though, they were going to use a large part of my front garden for a wheelchair ramp which would deposit me pretty much at my car door (parking was easier then) as my front door is slightly elevated and reached by a full step and a half step.
