I appreciate that Glos and thanks for your comments. I would only buy the Tiguan if we were able to get it £2-3k min under a good dealer price and then use the Tiguan as a deposit to buy a new electric car like a Skoda Enyaq at around £35k.We would then use the Tiguan till the Skoda came through. Failing that order a new Skoda ourselves and them come off the scheme when the Skoda comes through. That is unless Motability have the Enyaq on the schemem by early next year in which case place an order via motability for one of those.

It really wouldn’t be at all sensible to buy the Tiguan with a view to part exchanging it. Believe me, you would get less in part exchange than the price you pay, even if you get it for £2-3k under the price a dealer is asking. Dealers will only ever offer trade price for a part ex. They dress it up as far more because they apply the discount off the new car to that trade price so that the seller thinks they are getting a fantastic trade-in price. It’s the way the industry works! If you leave the scheme and go to a dealer as a cash buyer you will still get the discount without any of the risk. As you have extended your lease, you can keep the Tiguan until the new car is delivered. I hope that a suitable car turns up on the scheme for you, but if it doesn’t I would only consider buying the Tiguan if you want to keep it. Motability always ask way more than trade price and anything you pay above that is money lost.
