Re-reading your initial post, Rene. The AP is payable on collection, not on ordering. There is no reason to pay anything when the car is ordered. The GCB is paid following the new car dealer appraising and reporting the condition of your old car at the changeover.
Our dealer was happy to accept debit or credit card payment for the AP on the day
