Hi, Last Sunday 15-Aug I ordered an X1 X-Line X-Drive 2.0 petrol from my local dealer. He is confident that I will have it this year, but I’m not so sure. Anybody know how long these are taking to deliver? Also I was assured that they now have Android Auto, but i couldn’t see that on the spec, only Apple car play. Looking forward to my first BMW as having previously had Volvo XC-60 and two Tiguans.
Hi IanH. That’s exactly the same model that we have. Ours took just under 4 months from ordering to delivery, but that was because the dealer managed to nab a cancelled order slot that was already in the queue. I would think that you do have a chance of delivery by the end of the year – probably 50/50. If you haven’t done so already, I’d have a read through all of this thread as you will need to ask your dealer the right questions to ensure that they had available build allocation slots and that your order has actually progressed, as most dealers aren’t upfront about this and people often don’t realise until a month (or several months) have gone by and they haven’t heard anything! I can’t answer the question about Android Auto I’m afraid as all our devices are Apple.
Like you, we moved to an X1 from a Tiguan. In fact we’d had four Tiguans (three from Motability, one private). Overall, the X1 is a far better car than the Tiguan although there are a few ‘BMW haters’ on this forum who will have you believe that it’s the worst car on the scheme ?. It’s far more refined than the Tiguan (the BMW engine is whisper quiet), it has a very premium finish versus the utilitarian Tiguan and, most importantly of all, the tech all works significantly better than the VW systems. There are a few areas where the Tiguan is better (such as standard seats) and it has more standard kit, but it’s quantity over quality. If it’s your first BMW you are in for a treat. They are fantastic drivers cars and the balance of performance and economy is incredible. Any other questions feel free to ask.
