I’ve never named my cars, but my dad did when my sister and I were young. The fact that I still remember them must mean something.
Before I was born there was Phoebe, a 1955 MK1 Ford Zephyr (659 FBE).
When I was born there was Jane, a MK2 Ford Consul. Next was Sadie, a 1965 Ford Corsair.
Minky was that one’s replacement, a 1967 Corsair
In 1970 my dad went all European and bought a Renault 16 which my sister named François!
Then in 1974 he got a MK3 Cortina XL called Sevvy (SEV418M).
So to answer Brydo’s question, maybe it’s about memories, especially from our younger days.
