Personally I do not subscribe to this Motability blurb, because they are a leasing company they are unable to get the Vehicles because of Chip issues .Yes the Vehicle industry are in a temporary fix but they will bounce back. They will make sure they do because of leasing Companies.Retail sales form a very small part of their overall sales.
I can still go into a Honda,VW,Audi Seat etc etc Dealership and place a retail order but I will have to wait 6-7 months for most models at the moment.
If you have to wait 6 -7 months on the scheme for a Vehicle so what ,you still have your old one to use in the mean time. But I suspect this is the problem, they don’t want that sort of wait, they want those Vehicles that are at the end of the leases back because used Vehicle prices are at an all time high and therefore more profit for them.Especially ours as they generally well cared for and maintained with low low mileage. They want to push us into another lease in an unsuitable Vehicle for their benefit not ours.I cant see a Company Car Driver being told ,that you cant have a replacement Mercedes at the end of the lease because we cant get them but you can have a Ford Fiesta we got plenty of those.
Let’s get a reality check here, Motability were set up to help those in need. They are blurring the lines between Charity and Leasing Business. We need Motability on our side and dealing with the Manufacturers robustly. They are not an ordinary Leasing Company but one with a very special purpose.A purpose which has been and found out to have been corrupted over the years.
No doubt some will come to the aid of Motability and justifiably so as the concept is excellent but lets get it straight they are Business and behave accordingly.
