If ever proof was needed that the supply of semiconductor chips are being prioritised to the manufacturers of mobile devices (who use new and expensive chips) as opposed to the auto manufacturers (who use older and less profitable chips), I will share this anecdote with you.
Many of us have been waiting anything from 3 to 9 months for our new cars due to the current chip shortages. By contrast, yesterday afternoon I ordered a new iPhone which utilises the latest generation chips. It arrived at 0830 this morning and we don’t even live in a city!
