yes it is a big and very profitable business, the problem the commercial organisation is hiding behind the charity, enabling it to benefit from government grants, subsidies and most importantly tax excemptions saving them tens if not hundreds of millions a year – also they are a true monopoly, nobody else has a license to do it and no commercial organisation can compete with somebody getting tax money rather than paying it – I think the solution is to open up the sector to others and link the subsidies and grants to certain conditions.
From my experience dealing with motability, they are very very greedy organisation, unfortunately I have to deal with them because I have no other alternatives, I did complain to the financial ombudsman and stated the tax exemptions and grants money which go straight to their pockets but my complaint was rejected unfortunately as they can’t deal with these complaints, best option is to raise the issue with our MPs, may be then something can be done
