I guess that in an ideal world we would make any setting changes before we set of on our journeys. Like sat nav destinations, heating aircon settings set to auto. etc etc. That should just leave minimal things to faff about with whilst driving. Train your co-pilot to change temps/radio settings…all these things to minimise any faffing while driving.

Yep your right Joss, in the ideal world and is indeed what I do however there are times when automatic functions seem to fail or not work as there suppose to as an example the auto demist system fails sometimes out of the blue in my car and the windscreen fogs up in seconds leaving me scrambling for the A/C button. Thankfully with a nice big fat button on the dash I can bring in the demister manually in a fraction of a second and the screen clears a second or two later.

I have to say I’ve not used the touch controls in any car other than the touch screen that’s used while stationary but maybe like Markymate I will love them and get on well with them so reserve judgement but I should know for sure by the end of this year when I switch cars.

The end of the day, like Wigwam I train my none licensed co-driver carer wife to change things while on the move but boy is that hard enough with real switches and it often goes along the lines of…

Me “my love could you turn the heating down”

    Wife” what button is that”

Me “the third one down from the top right side”

    Wife “what this one”

Me “no, that’s the third one down from top left, I said top right”

Wife “I wished they didn’t keep moving the buttons around”…like Thora Hird in LOTSW?

Thankfully I don’t often need to use or change the satnav while on the move.
