. Take Big Dave as an example, he has left the scheme because the car he was after wasn’t on the scheme. I dont doubt that he will be out of pocket as a result but has still chosen to leave.

For me, it is not a matter of being ‘out of pocket’.
Now I have retired from my day job, I wanted a vehicle to suit my new retirement hobby of training our sheepdogs for the farms.
I received a not unsubstantial sum from my pension scheme, and in the premise of ‘You can’t take it with you when you die’ I bought a new vehicle to suit the hobby as well as for general use and also when I end up covering for my family’s down time on the farms (unpaid)!
I would not even want, nor expect the Motability scheme to provide such a vehicle for these requirements and hobby.
It is down purely to ‘horse for courses’ and personal choice.
