Hi Mitch, sadly pain relief is never easy. Over 20 years I went from Codine, to Oramorh, Diazepam, Oxycodone, BuTrans and at the end Fentanyl. You just sadly get used to the drugs and they don’t actually give you any relief, but you have all the negative side effects, including withdrawal symptoms.
It’s not easy, and everyone’s situation is different, for me, in the end, I decided to go cold turkey and came off all pain relief. It wasn’t easy to put it mildly, but in the end, I didn’t really have many other options.
4 years on, I feel much better, still have pain, but to be honest, I’m so used to it, it’s my normality and can hardly remember pain free, but my quality of life has improved dramatically (as has going to the loo!!!)
Pain relief is great for short term conditions, but life long pain, they just don’t work sadly. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
