I have checked with the correct purchase department at Motability this morning and I was told that you can still purchase your lease car at the end of the contract. I am personally waited to get my price so was horrified to read this incorrect information on the website this morning. I think that this topic should be removed as it is not true.
I’m sure that BigDave has posted legitimate information. Perhaps this change only applies to new leases? That would make sense I guess, so that those who ordered a car with a view to buying it can still do so, but they gradually phase out the option with all new leases from now on? Just a thought as I have no definitive knowledge either way.
Edit – I’ve just checked the Motability website myself and it clearly states that you cannot buy your car at the end of the lease, exactly as BigDave says. However, as I have said above, it may be that this new rule only applies to new leases from now on. It doesn’t say either way.
