This worries me. The “self-driving” systems in aircraft, particularly airliners, has been honed over decades and it still goes wrong. 737 Max is a case in point. Cars have many more variables to cope with. So I reckon we have a very long way to go before digital driving is safe. At the very least, cars equipped with and using hands-free control should be made noticeable and identifiable to other motorists. A flashing light or a suitable and unique colour would be a good idea to alert us hands-on drivers that they might be doing something wonky.
