    Excellent point Richard. I know that some people justify the policy by saying ‘well, if the AP goes up after you order you don’t pay more, so you can’t have it both ways’. However, like you, I can think of a number of companies that now offer a ‘lowest price guarantee’ where if the price goes down you benefit from it, but obviously if the price goes up you aren’t affected. So, yes, you can have it both ways!

    Given that Motability Operations makes a lot of profit out of each and every Motability lease (at least £500 from memory) and has been criticised for making excessive profits, this would be just one of several things that they could do to make the scheme more attractive. As you say, not everyone has the confidence to cancel and reorder (or can’t anyway, due to it being too late) and a lot of people have a real struggle financially. The people that I feel most sorry for this quarter are those who ordered a Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge last quarter when it has dropped around £2,200 this quarter. That would upset even the richest Motability customer!
